We were very excited when during last summer term Summerbank children were each asked to produce a clay figure representing themselves to be part of a huge exhibition in Stoke-on-Trent. As part of the the British Ceramics Biennial, this large scale project was to create a ‘cast’ of the 40,000 school children in Stoke-on-Trent. The children (and staff) made some fabulous models which are now exhibited in 4 different locations across the City (Spode; Middleport Pottery; Hanley Museum and Wedgewood Museum in Barlaston). With so many figures it might have seemed impossible that we would find any of our children, however the intrepid Miss Marsden managed to track some of our figures down at Middleport and Wedgewood. Next week some children from Summerbank will also get the chance to visit Spode so maybe they will spot some more! If you decide to visit any of the locations yourself then the exhibition runs until Sunday 13th October and is free of charge.
